For those who were not there Bedroxx is a great place to play. I want to thank Rhett for buying the tables and John for running the tourney. The location is on the far west side of Tucson, about an an hour and fifteen minutes from Phoenix, very easy drive and right off the highway. I talked to both John and Rhett and it sounds like they have big plans for the future, hats off guys and thanks for stepping up. The foos setup is the most player friendly that I have ever seen down here, with the possibility to host much bigger tournaments very comfortably. Age took a bunch of pictures and hopefully they will be up on the facebook page soon. Thanks again guys, I look forward to going down there at least once a month...

The lights are up at the moon! Two new T3000s with lights, great atmosphere and drink specials on Friday's! Hope to see you there tonight! First official weekly tourney will be in the next week or two. We are working on a special promotion that should really bring out the competition, so keep your game sharp and stay posted for more details.

Are you not doing the singles this time? It has always been a part of the challenge.

Even with three you should only encounter a problem if there is a huge turnout. We only had three at the last tourney in Phx and finished on time. I can bring my table if need be just let me know. I have a t3000 as well, it is the home model, but it has the good rods and plays great. I just need some help setting it up and tearing it down.

Sounds nice, what kind of table is it? Do you have a light installed over it?

Ball stuck on the wall....

chambie
We had a discussion about this last night. Because of the new strips on the tables, which sometimes cause the ball to stick on the wall, the three times to the wall is interpreted a bit differently now. I found the following thread on the foosballboard... http://www.foosballboard.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=6387

Generally when the ball gets trapped on the wall a player is allowed as many bumps as necessary to free it. These bumps are not considered wall bounces as they are needed to free the ball from a trapped position. There are a few interpretations, one says that it is zero walls, another says it is one wall. However from what I have read so far the rule book is not really specific enough about this situation so in many instances the tournament director must make a determination.

With that said for tournaments at the Cactus Moon we will continue to play as we have up to this point. When a ball is stuck on the wall bumps to the wall to free the ball will not be counted as additional walls. Have a great weekend all and see you at the Moon!

Phoenix Summer Points Race

Foosers the Summer Points Race (SPR) starts this Friday May 3rd at the Cactus Moon. Points for the SPR will be accumulated over 16 different events during June and July. Points will be given out for both attendance and placement for each tourney. I know there will be many questions about this event so I created a special website at http://sites.google.com/site/azfoosball just for this event. It has a calendar of events, rules, payouts, etc.... Please check the site often as additional prizes and other information will be posted as the event progresses.

We had our first points race tournament last night. Good turnout with 7 full teams! Some fantastic matches and a good time was had by all, well at least I'd like to think so! Nest tournament is on Monday at 7:30 at the Cactus Moon. I will not be there so Mark D will be running the tournament. Remember check out the SPR website at http://sites.google.com/site/azfoosball to keep up on current standings and the schedule of events.

Guys - I believe that we are having one Tuesday tournament at the CM on July 5. The 4th fell on a Monday so I moved that tournament to a Tuesday so we would not conflict with the holilday.

John -

Might I suggest to start the Singles first. You have guys traveling and it is a bit more enticing to travel if you have two events. Furthermore the singles takes longer starting it later may not work out. Also some of the guys only want to play the doubles, getting there that early may not be entirely possible for some people. I would suggest run the singles at one and the doubles at 4. We have started later than that in the past and were able to finish easily.

I will be there either way, looking forward to the tourney.

Casey,

I know that this is a bit after the fact, but it is just for the SRP standings. We did let Nick and Pat play together but they did not get points in the SRP. That was the best compromise that I could come up with.
