You can now sign up for AZ Foosball events via text message or email!
By pre-registering with this method you can also save money on entry fees, win prizes, see the list of other players who have signed up, etc.
Simply text (or email) the word “register” to
[email protected]
and you will be automatically registered for that day’s Arizona Foosball event or tournament. Note that you must register in order to see the list of other players who are going. You can also re-send the command at any time to get an updated player list.
Happy foosing!

TUCSON - PHOENIX TROPHY CHALLENGE
Saturday, June 19, 2010
Click's Billiards, Phoenix, AZ
Entry fees: $5 beginner, $10 rookie/semi, $15 pro/master
Schedule:
3:30 - Open Singles
7:30 - Open Doubles
_____________________________________________
ALL PLAYERS WELCOME!
NOTE: Due to the success of the last Tucson-Phoenix Challenge (no conflicts, on-time start & finish, etc.), this event will mimic the last.
We will have FIVE TABLES on hand for this tournament, and will enforce the early start time for the singles event. This should alleviate any conflicts between singles and doubles event, as well as better facilitate those who come early for the doubles event and find that they are unable to get in any warmup games, etc.
Trophy Scoring method: "Trophy points" will be tallied for the event by totaling the prize money awarded to all players from each city. The team/city with the most points wins the trophy.

You did it right, Zeke. I am currently making some changes so I have the Message Service off.
I will have it going soon. I'll also send a little message about pre-registering for Phoenix/Tucson when I'm done. You should have it by morning.
Sorry for the hiccup, and see you tomorrow!

About your questions/observations:
1) Presently, you have to text to
[email protected]
. In theory I support direct SMS, I do not have the hardware for it, so I am currently using only SMS text-to-mail gateway.
2) You can write in subject or body, and should be parsed fine.

The turnout was pretty good again, but we did miss the California/New Mexico crew this time around
Everything ran smooth and finished early enough that we even held a "last-chance draw" for fun.
Phoenix had a great showing this time around, taking back the trophy for the first time in awhile by an impressive $505 to $130 score...

Hell yeah, well done, JB - that was some tight ass shit, yo! LOL
I suppose in fairness, though, we should say congrats to Nick for beating a man possessed in the singles final!
Same to T.J./Joe! Now to bring it to World's...
Finally, Phoenix can rest with some respect. Man, Tucson is stingy with that damned trophy. I think we ought to take pictures of various Phoenix players rubbing the trophy over their naked bodies while we have the chance, and post them here.

Return of Arnold Ortiz
BillyBoy
Administrator
I'm sure that all of you veteran foosers out there get excited whenever you hear the legendary name "Arnold Ortiz". A master of foosball trickery/treachery (not to mention holder of the world's fastest pull kick), Arnold was a regular on the Phoenix foos scene for a long time, before going into exile in 2005.
However, Nick Bourdos managed to locate the infamous "Elwood" last week, and I talked to him yesterday. He says his days at the monastery are nearly over, and he plans to revisit the Phoenix foosball scene very soon. He plans to first visit the Mesa MNF tournament in order to get his juices flowing again, but did not say when...
Just thought you might like to know

Went to Click's Sat, and...

The tournament was not cancelled. I didn't go to the party in order to run the tournament. Also, some 50 people received explicit email or text messages that there was, indeed, a tournament scheduled @ Clicks 07/10/2010. I left only after it became clear that there would not be one.
I don't know if you are specifically addressing me, or the situation/players in general. If it is me, then talking to me directly would have been more "proffessional".

BillyBoy

The new version of the Arizona Foosball League officially launches on
July 27 & 28
.
Teams are displayed on the sign-up sheet on the "Leagues" page. All players will soon receive an update with team & conference information, schedule, etc.
As you know, we’ve had a longer delay than normal between the league sessions, and we thank you for bearing with us on this little breather. We have a lot of new stuff in store for you this time around, so dust off the foosball gloves and buckle in for what promises to be the best AZ foosball league yet!
See you at the tables!
